12:0 Lyso PC may be used to reversibly block envelope glycoprotein (Env)-mediated fusion in various cell lines. It may also be used in determining bubble local velocity profile.

Definition

ChEBI: A 1-O-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine in which the acyl group is specified as lauroyl (dodecanoyl)

Biological Activity

Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) alters various functions in different cell-types, like endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes, macrophages and T-cells. It is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory diseases. LPC activates many second messengers including, protein kinase C, extracellular-signal-regulated kinases and protein tyrosine kinases.
