Synthesis

To a 25 mL Schlenk tube fitted with a magnetic stirrer were sequentially added nitroolefins (0.2 mmol), sodium azide (0.3 mmol), N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL) and Amberlyst-15 (30 mg). After sealing the reaction tube, the reaction was stirred at 50°C under air atmosphere for 1-3 hours. The progress of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC), and when the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 10 mL). The organic phases were combined, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. The resulting crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography (petroleum ether-ethyl acetate system) to afford the target compound 3-(1H-(1,2,3)triazol-4-yl)-benzonitrile.
