5-Iodo-7-azaindole is a 5-halogenated nitrogen heterocyclic indole. 5-Halo-nitrogen heterocyclic indoles, especially 5-chloro-aza-indoles and 5-bromo-aza-indoles, are important pharmaceutical and chemical raw materials, used to synthesize drugs such as Vemurafenib (Zelbora), an anticancer drug developed by Roche, and SGS-393, developed by Novartis.
