Chemical Properties

White crystalline powder, soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and DMSO, derived from the flower buds of Magnolia officinalis and Magnolia grandiflora.

Uses

Fargesin is a bioactive neolignan isolated from magnolia plants, which is widely used in the treatment of managing rhinitis, inflammation, histamine, sinusitis, and headache. Also, it is potential antagonist which could protect against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.

in vivo

Fargesin has antihypertensive effect in 2K1C hypertensive rats via inhibiting oxidative stress and promoting NO release^[1].
