10:0 Lyso PC has been used as an internal standard to quantify the most abundant lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) species found in Trypanosoma cruzi samples.

Definition

ChEBI: 1-decanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a 1-O-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine in which the acyl group is specified as capryl (decanoyl). It is a 1-O-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and a decanoate ester.

Biological Activity

Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) alters various biological functions in different cell-types, such as endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes, macrophages and T-cells. It is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory diseases. LPC activates many second messengers including, protein kinase C, extracellular-signal-regulated kinases and protein tyrosine kinases.
