4-Methoxyphenyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranoside is a biochemical assay reagent.

Synthesis

To a solution of 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-acetyl-??-D-glucopyranose in anhydrous CH2Cl2 was added 4-methoxyphenol and ethyl ether of boron trifluoride at 0 ??C, and the reaction was stirred under argon at ambient temperature for 16 hours. The resulting solution was extracted directly with saturated NaHCO3 solution and brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated. The product was recrystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane solution to give 4-methoxyphenyl-2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-??-D-glucopyranoside as a white solid.
