Chemical Properties
White crystal. Melting point 168-169 ℃, 225 ℃ decomposition. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, dilute sulfuric acid. Generally its sodium salt: Sodium sulfopodate, C12H12I3N2NaO2, Sodium ipodete, Ipodate sodium, or Biloptin, Oragrafin sodium. its sodium salt is white leafy crystals. Melting point 303-304 ℃ (decomposition). Soluble in water, methanol, ethanol soluble in dimethylformamide, practically insoluble in acetone, ether.
