Chrysanthemum Indicum Extract Usage And Synthesis
Description
Chrysanthemum Indicum Extract is extracted from Chrysanthemum indicum L., a potential therapeutic agent for obesity and its associated complications. Chrysanthemum indicum L. (C. indicum L.), a member of the Compositae family, is a perennial plant that has been used as a traditional medicine for more than 2000 years in China and is widely used for the treatment of Pemphigus, swelling, pain, and scrofula.
Biological Activity
Chrysanthemum extract treatment decreased the activation of NF-κB, IKK, and IKK in LCLs, but intriguingly, it had little to no effect on EBV-negative Burkitt lymphoma cells or human foreskin fibroblast cells, HeLa. Later, it was discovered that lupeol was the substance found in Chrysanthemum extracts, responsible for the anti-lymphoma activity produced by methylene chloride fractionation. The active ingredient in long pepper, piperlongumine, produced a similar outcome by suppressing Myc and NF-κB activities and several downstream target genes; this substance increased apoptosis and decreased cell proliferation in human Burkitt's lymphoma cells, which is a transgenic mouse model.
