Indium sulfate Usage And Synthesis
General Description
Indium sulfate (In2(SO4)3) is a grayish-white powder. It is hydroscopic and has a monoclinic crystal structure. It is available in several forms, i.e. as an anhydrous powder, as a hydrated salt with 9 moles of associated water, and as a solution in varying concentrations in water, up to its solubility limit.
Chemical Properties
Grayish powder. Deliquescent. Soluble in water. Decomposed by heat.
Uses
Indium sulfate has a very limited use.
Uses
Indium(III) sulfate is used Chemical synthesis, hardening agent in gold electroplating baths. It is also used to prepare other indium containing substances such as copper indium selenide.
Hazard
See indium; tellurium.
Purification Methods
Crystallise it from dilute aqueous H2SO4. It is hygroscopic; store it in a well-stoppered vessel.
