Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Personal Protection

Chemical splash goggles in compliance with OSHA regulations are advised; however, OSHA regulations also permit other type safety glasses. Whre chemical resistant (rubber) gloves. To prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact, wear impervious clothing and boots.

Respirators

A supplied (purified) air respirator, hood fit type, breathable air via hose.

Exposure Effects

paralysis of skeletal muscle results in heaviness of the eyelids, difficulty in swallowing and talking, diplopia, progressive weakness of the extremities, the neck, intercostals and diaphragm. Tubocurarine does not penetrate the blood brain barrier hence few CNS effects are noted.
