It can also be used as an intermediate or raw material for organic synthesis, such as the preparation of 2-(trifluoromethyl)nicotinic acid and its derivatives.

Synthesis

3-Bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine can be obtained by the reaction of (Trifluoromethyl)trimethylsilane with 3-Bromo-2-iodopyridine.
