Uses

2-Fluorocinnamic acid was used in the synthesis of acrylamide.

Synthesis

There are various methods for synthesizing o-fluorocinnamic acid, such as Perkin's method, Knoevenagel's method, o-fluorobenzaldehyde-acetone method, o-fluorobenzaldehyde-vinyl ketone method, o-fluorobenzaldehyde-acetic acid method, styrene-carbon tetrachloride method, Styrene-carbon monoxide method, styrene-carbon dioxide method, phenylchloromethane-anhydrous sodium acetate method, halogenated benzene-acrylic acid method, cinnamaldehyde oxidation method and so on. Most of the above methods have no practical industrial application value or have been eliminated due to high energy consumption, heavy pollution, high cost and low yield. At present, the main methods for the industrial production of o-fluorocinnamic acid are Perkin's method and styrene-carbon tetrachloride method. The author reviews and evaluates the progress of the synthesis of o-fluorocinnamic acid based on the classification of reaction materials.
