Uses

The tyrosine of this diet was labeled by adding to it an amount of synthetic, isotopic dl-tyrosine cor- responding to twice that already present in the food. Incorporation of total C14 into muscle protein was reduced in 186-day infected mice fed dl-tyrosine-2-C-14 as compared to muscle proteins obtained from noninfected animals.

Definition

ChEBI: Tyrosine is an alpha-amino acid that is phenylalanine bearing a hydroxy substituent at position 4 on the phenyl ring. It has a role as a Daphnia magna metabolite. It is an alpha-amino acid, a polar amino acid and an aromatic amino acid. It contains a 4-hydroxybenzyl group. It is functionally related to a propionic acid. It is a conjugate base of a tyrosinium. It is a conjugate acid of a tyrosinate(1-).
