Uses

Potassium tetracyanoplatinate(II) trihydrate is used in the preparation other salts like Krogmann's salt, that are highly conducting, one dimensional materials.

Production Methods

A solution of PtCl3 or K3PtCl4 is added to a cold, saturated solution of KCN (use a good hood!). The precipitated K3Pt(CN)4 ? 3 H3O is filtered off with suction.
