Uses

4-Methoxycoumarin (Compound 6) shows antibacterial activity of against R. solanacearum[1].

Production Methods

4-Methoxycoumarin is produced from 4-Hydroxycoumarinwith Diazomethane. 4-Hydroxycoumarin may be obtained from Diphenylmalonate by cyclization with Aluminum chloride. It has also been prepared from Methyl acetylsalicylate by treatment with Sodium in liquid paraffin at 240 ℃.
