Uses
Kasugamycin Hydrochloride Monohydrate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits the initiation of translation. Related to Kasugamycin Hydrochloride (K139900).
in vivo
Kasugamycin (50-250 μg/mL) hydrochloride hydrate decreases mycobacterial mistranslation due to the indirect tRNA aminoacylation pathway[3].
| Animal Model: | Pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis in female BALB/c mice (8-10 weeks old)[3] |
| Dosage: | 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg or 400 mg/kg (dissolved in 0.9% saline) |
| Administration: | Intramuscular injection, single dose |
| Result: | Showed dose-dependent concentration-time profiles in plasma, with rapid clearance. 400 mg/kg resulted in a Cmax/EC(mistranslation)50 of ~2.5 and time over EC50 of 1 hr or only 4% of the dosing interval. |
| Animal Model: | Mtb infection model in 6-week-old female BALB/c mice[3] |
| Dosage: | 50 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg; with 10 mg/kg Rifampicin (orally gavage, once daily for 1 week) |

| Result: | Resulted in an astonishing 30-fold boosting of rifampicin killing of Mtb in mouse lungs. |
