Biochem/physiol Actions

DL-3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid (3HDD) is a racemic mixture of D- and L-3HDD. 3-hydroxydodecanoic acid is found as a monomer in the construction of polyhydroxyalkanoates. 3HDD is used to study the roles of β-hydroxy fatty acids in chronic inflammation and insulin resistance and the biosynthesis of diffusible signal factors involved in quorum sensing.

3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid (i.p., days 6, 9, and 12) shows anti-tumor effect via GPR84 activation and IL-12 production in mice carrying MC38 tumors^[2].

Dosage:
Administration:	Intraperitoneal injection (i.p.), days 6, 9, and 12
Result:	Showed a significant reduction in tumor growth. Increased IL-12. Exhibited higher infiltration of CD8⁺ T cells in tumors. Was dependent on GPR84 receptor signaling. Had a strong anti-tumor effect in combination with 5-FU.
