Insoluble in water.

Reactivity Profile

2-methyl-1-nitroanthraquinone is easily reduced. 2-methyl-1-nitroanthraquinone is also readily oxidized.

ACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: When heated to decomposition 2-methyl-1-nitroanthraquinone emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides.

Fire Hazard

Flash point data for 2-methyl-1-nitroanthraquinone are not available; however, 2-methyl-1-nitroanthraquinone is probably combustible.

Safety Profile

Confirmed carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic and neoplastigenic data. Moderately toxic by intraperitoneal route. Mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx.
