Leukotriene B5 is a derivative of Arachidonic Acid (A765000), which is an essential fatty acid. It is an inflammatory mediator produced by human neutrophils that is less potent but similar to Leukotriene B4 (L473510).

Definition

ChEBI: Leukotriene B5 is a leukotriene composed of (6Z,8E,10E,14Z,17Z)-icosapentaenoic acid carrying (5S)- and (12R)-hydroxy substituents. It has a role as a human xenobiotic metabolite, an anti-inflammatory agent and a rat metabolite. It is a dihydroxy monocarboxylic acid, a leukotriene, a long-chain fatty acid and a hydroxy polyunsaturated fatty acid. It is a conjugate acid of a leukotriene B5(1-).
