Uses

Perfluorotoluene is a perfluorohydrocarbon and is frequently used as an industrial reagent.

Application

Since fluorine is the most electronegative element, polyfluorinated organic compounds have chemical stability, thermal stability, high surface activity, and hydrophobic and oleophobic properties, and have broad application prospects in chemical industry, medicine, and liquid crystal materials.

Mildly toxic by inhalation. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Fí.

Synthesis

(1) Preparation of fluoridation catalyst: by weight, 100 parts of thiourea resin dissolved in 700 parts of sodium hydroxide solution immersed in 2h, the weight percentage concentration of sodium hydroxide solution 7%, using deionized water washed to PH = 7, add 300 parts of cuprous chloride solution (weight percentage concentration of 8%), 0.05 parts of ethylene glycol di(beta-hydroxyethyl ether) was added; 0.04 parts of 1-ethyl methyl ether-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, was added 3 parts of hydrogen peroxide, stirring reaction at 40 ?? for 8h, the end of the reaction, filtration, drying, to get the fluoridation catalyst;

(2) octafluorotoluene preparation:

By weight, 100 parts of octachlorotoluene, 200 parts of dry KF, 500 parts of diphenyl ether, 8 parts of the fluoridation catalyst put into the reaction kettle, the system is gradually warming up to carry out the reaction, the reaction temperature of 420 ??, reaction pressure 3MP, reaction time 3MP, reaction time 420 ??. The reaction temperature is 420??, the reaction pressure is 3MP, and the reaction time is 3h. After the reaction, the gas-phase crude product in the kettle enters into the condenser of the crude product after gas-solid separation and the condensate is collected in the crude product tank, and the residue at the bottom of the kettle is processed for the production of activated potassium fluoride;

(3) Refinement of octafluorotoluene:

The crude octafluorotoluene in the crude product tank enters into the octafluorotoluene distillation kettle, and is distilled by the octafluorotoluene distillation tower. Distillation, the product octafluorotoluene is separated from the top of the tower, flow through the adsorption tower equipped with 2-chlorotrityl chloride resin, flow rate 3BV/h, temperature 40 ??, to get the purified octafluorotoluene product.
