The general procedure for the synthesis of N,N'-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine from diethanolamine is as follows: Example 2: Preparation of 1,4-bis(hydroxyethyl)piperazine from diethanolamine under solvent-free conditions Operational steps: 1. 100 g of diethanolamine (II) and 10 g of Catalyst A were added in the same reaction setup described in Example 1 . 2. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction product was detected by gas chromatography analysis (GC column: 30m RTX Amin). 3. The analytical results showed that the content of 1,4-bis(hydroxyethyl)piperazine in the reaction product was 79% under the condition of complete conversion of diethanolamine.
