ALLYL BUTYL ETHER Usage And Synthesis
Synthesis
1, sodium metal method: the reaction is carried out in two steps, first by n-butanol and sodium metal reaction, the generation of sodium n-butanol, hot and chloropropylene to generate allyl butyl ether. The yield is 60-60%. 2, potassium hydroxide solution method: in about 40% of the KOH aqueous solution, chloropropene and n-butanol reaction, generate allyl butyl ether. The yield of this method is very low. 3??Bromopropene Method: In 40% sodium hydroxide solution, bromopropene is used to react with n-butanol to produce allyl butyl ether. The yield is about 30%. 4??Diallyl Ether Method: In the presence of a chemocatalyst, react n-butanol with diallyl ether. Generates allyl butyl ether. 5, allyl alcohol method: in the presence of mercuric chloride and boron fluoride, the reaction of allyl alcohol with n-butanol to generate allyl butyl ether.
Purification Methods
Check the IR for the presence of OH str vibrations; if so then wash it well with H2O, dry it with CaCl2 and distil it through a good fractionating column. The liquid is an irritant. [Watanabe et al. J Org Chem 23 1666 1958, Schueler & Hanna J Am Chem Soc 73 3528 1951, Beilstein 1 IV 2084.]
