The general procedure for the synthesis of (E)-3-[2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-quinolinyl]acrolein from the compound (CAS: 113832-57-8) and 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)quinoline-3-carboxaldehyde is as follows: the general procedure is as follows: except for the use of ethylidene cyclohexylamine (1.7 g, 13.8 mmol) in place of the ethylidene tert-butylamine (1.4 g, 14.1 mmol), the operation was the same as in Example 1. A portion of the reaction mixture was poured into 10% (w/v) aqueous acetic acid solution and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using the internal standard method. The analytical results showed that (E)-3-[4'-(4"-fluorophenyl)-2'-cyclopropylquinolin-3'-yl]propanal (1.7 g, 5.4 mmol, 78.3% yield) was successfully synthesized.
