Uses

An aromatic intermediate compound, 2-Amino-4,6-dichlorotriazine can be useful for the preparation of substituted melamine, ammelides, and ammelines.

Synthesis

General procedure for the synthesis of 2-amino-4,6-dichloro-S-triazine from cyanuric chloride: an equimolar amount of ammonium hydroxide solution was added dropwise to an anhydrous dichloromethane (10 mL) solution of cyanuric chloride (2.16 g, 11.69 mmol) under stirring conditions. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was purified by fast column chromatography (eluent: ethyl acetate/dichloromethane, 8:2, v/v) to afford the target compound 2-amino-4,6-dichloro-S-triazine (I) in 99% yield.
