Uses
3-Methoxyphenylacetone is employed in the preparation of optically active cyanohydrins. It is also used in the synthesis of central nervous system (CNS) active compounds. Further, it plays an important role in the preparation of 4-amino-3-methoxypropiophenone.

3-Methoxyphenylacetone is a substituted phenylacetone used in the preparation of optically active cyanohydrins. 3-Methoxyphenylacetone is also used in the preparation of CNS active compounds.
Synthesis
A green synthesis method of 3-methoxypropiophenone. In order to solve the above technical problems, the present invention adopts the following technical scheme: add magnesium powder and anhydrous aluminum trichloride in a reactor equipped with a reflux condenser tube and a dropping funnel, slowly add a mixture of m-methoxybromobenzene and tetrahydrofuran (THF) from the dropping funnel, control the temperature of the reaction solution at 30-80??C, so that the solution has been kept at a slight boil, and then heat up and reflux for 0.5-1.0h after the completion of the addition of drops to ensure that the magnesium After dropping, heat and reflux for 0.5-1.0h to make sure the magnesium reaction is complete, and obtain the Grignard reagent. Under stirring, add the propionitrile slowly and slowly to the Grignard reagent, after dropping, and then react for 1.0-2.0 h. After the reaction is completed, slowly add 3 mol/L hydrochloric acid dropwise in a cold water bath, decompose the addition product, separate out the inorganic phase, the organic phase is often pressurized distillation to remove THF, and then distill under reduced pressure to obtain 3-methoxypropiophenone.
