CALMODULIN Chemical Properties,Usage,Production
Uses
Anti-Calmodulin antibody has been used in western blotting.
Uses
Calmodulin bovine has been used inin vitro phosphorylation assay of recombinant retinoic acid-inducible gene I protein. It has also been used in the endoprotease Glu-C proteolysis and deamidation studies.
General Description
Anti-Calmodulin Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Calmodulin protein.
Calmodulin (CaM), a highly conserved Ca2+-binding protein, is mapped to human chromosome 14q32. Calmodulin is a small protein abundantly present in the brain and coded by three genes (CALM1-3).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Calmodulin (CaM) possesses Ca2+-dependent modulatory roles. It participates in cell proliferation and muscle activity. Calmodulin plays a major role in catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) and in long QT syndrome (LQTS). This protein modulates the transcriptional processes required for proper heart function.
