Chemical Properties

This product is a systemic selective post-emergence herbicide. After application, it is absorbed by the leaves and roots of weeds, and rapidly conducts in the body, stops cell division, so that the weeds stop growing and gradually die. It is used for preventing and removing annual broad-leaved weeds in wheat fields, with low dosage, safety and high efficiency. It decomposes rapidly in the soil and has no effect on the next crop after 30 days of application.

Thifensulfuron is used as a herbicide, a chemical compound that function by inhibiting the action of a plant enzyme, stopping plant growth, and eventually killing the plant.

Definition

ChEBI: An N-sulfonylurea in which the sulfur atom is attached to a 2-carboxythiophen-3-yl group and in which the non-sulfonated nitrogen is substituted by a 4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl group. The corresponding methyl ester, known as t ifensulfuron-methyl, is used as a post-emergence herbicide for the control of grass and broad-leaved weeds.
