Uses
In organic electroluminescent devices, the device with lithium benzoate gives the best performance of all the devices studied. Aromatic multilayers of lithium benzoate were covalently attached to the surface of natural graphite through diazonium chemistry, and the resulting graphite exhibited superior electrochemical performance as anode material of lithium ion batteries.
Uses
Lithium benzoate has been used as a lubricant for compressing tablets.

Synthesis
Lithium benzoate was synthesized by taking benzoic acid and lithium hydroxide as reactants: benzoic acid and lithium hydroxide monohydrate were weighed according to the molar ratio of 1:1. Put lithium hydroxide monohydrate into a large beaker, add appropriate amount of deionized water, heat the solution near boiling, so that lithium hydroxide is completely dissolved, and then add benzoic acid slowly into the solution, reflux heating, keep the solution at 90 , stirring for 4 h, so that it is fully reacted. The clarified solution was concentrated in an electric furnace until a crystal film appeared, and then naturally cooled to room temperature, until a large number of solids were precipitated, filtered, washed with anhydrous ethanol for 3 times to obtain a white product, and then recrystallized with the appropriate proportion of ethanol and water mixed solution for 2 times to obtain a white product. The sample was placed in a vacuum drying oven at a controlled temperature of 50 and dried. Finally, the sample was put into the desiccator for spare.

Combinations of benzoic acid (2,000 mg/kg in diet, 1-14 days) lithium and Thymol (HY-N6810) (100 mg/kg in diet, 1-14 days) inproves growth performance, promotes nutrient digestion and absorption, and reduces diarrhea in weaned pigs[3].
Purification Methods
Crystallise it from EtOH (13mL/g) by partial evaporation. [Beilstein 9 I 107, 9 IV 279.]
