Synthesis

A mixture of Mg (13.49 g, 554.99 mmol) and I2 (50.00 mg, 197.00 ??mol) in THF (260 mL) was degassed and purged 3 times with N 2 , and then compound 1A (86.50 g, 462.49 mmol in THF (200 mL)) was added to the mixture. The mixture was stirred at 25 ??C for 1 h under N2 atmosphere. The color of the mixture changed. The crude product compound 4-methoxyphenylmagnesium bromide was used in the next step without further purification (97.74 g, crude).
