Description
Veegum is an off-white insoluble flaky consistency and swells to many times its original volume when added to water. Its aqueous dispersions are thus high viscosity thixotropic gels at low solids.

Veegum is mainly used as a water dispersible coating agent.

Uses
magnesium aluminum silicate is a thickener with texturemodification and emulsion-stabilizing abilities, as well as astringent properties. This is refined and purified smectite clay. It is non-comedogenic and non-toxic.
Application
Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Veegum can be used as a suspension stabilizer, emulsifier, and rheology modifier to reduce stickiness and provide a silky, non-sticky feel. For example, in hair care products, Veegum K provides excellent suspension properties at low viscosities.
Toothpaste: It can be used as a binder in toothpaste, ensuring stability of the paste or gel, as well as good settling properties, flavor release, and rinseability during brushing.
Pharmaceuticals: Veegum can be used as an adsorbent, stabilizer, suspending agent, disintegrant for tablets and capsules, tablet binder, and viscosity enhancer. For example, Veegum F is suitable as a pharmaceutical suspension in acidic systems.
Ceramics: It can be used in ceramic blanks and glazes to improve the whiteness, clarity, and thermal stability of architectural and sanitary ceramics.
