Pale yellow powder, soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and DMSO, derived from the rhizome of Piper methysticum Forst.

Uses

Flavokawain Cis achalcone found in the kava plant. Studies showed thatFlavokawain C can inhibit cell cycle and promote apoptosis in HCT 116 cells. In addition, natural chalcones have beenimplicated as lead compounds for developing dual inhibitors againstHistone deacetylase enzymes (HDACs) and NF-κB. Flavokawain C is a related compound Flavokawain A (F371020).
