Uses

Cyclo-(Pro-Gly) (Pyrrolopiperazine-2,5-dione), an alkaloid isolated from green algae Ulva prolifera, possesses antialgal activity against the common harmful red tide microalgae[1]. Cyclo-(Pro-Gly) (Pyrrolopiperazine-2,5-dione) possesses antiamnesic effects and neuroprotective actions[2].

Definition

ChEBI: Hexahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine-1,4-dione is an organonitrogen compound and an organooxygen compound. It is functionally related to an alpha-amino acid.

in vivo

Cyclo-(Pro-Gly) (0.1 and 10 mg/kg, ip ) seems to be a memory facilitating substance and its presence in rat brain suggests the existence of a new mechanism of memory regulation[3].
