General Description
Kinetics of the reaction of 2-methyl-2-imidazoline with sulfate and hydrogen phosphate radicals has been investigated by flash-photolysis. Rate constant for the reaction was reported to be 108-109M-1s-1.
Synthesis
The preparation of 2-methylimidazoline was as follows: firstly, 62g ethylenediamine and 5.2g sulfur were added to the reaction vessel with stirring to raise the temperature and reflux, and 6g acetonitrile was slowly added dropwise to control the reflux flow at 100??C, and after the dropwise addition was completed, the temperature was slowly raised to react for 1 hr at 150-160??C, and then 11g of zinc powder was added in batches, and the reaction was kept warm for 2 hr after the addition of the zinc powder was completed, and finally After the addition of zinc powder, the reaction was kept warm for 2 hours, and finally, the temperature was raised to collect the fractions, and the fractions at 190-206??C were collected, i.e., 2-methylimidazoline.
