Colorless oily liquid. Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Weak, musky odor.

Application

CYCLOPENTADECANOL has only little more than academic interest, since it has been identified as a component of the Musk from Louisiana (American) muskrats. This Musk was suggested as a substitute for Tibet Muskdeer Musk during World War II in the U.S.A., but the Muskrat Musk was found to be much weaker than the Himalayan Musk.
