4-Ethoxybenzaldehyde Usage And Synthesis
Description
4-Ethoxybenzaldehyde is a flavoring ingredient. 4-Ethoxybenzaldehyde can be used as an anti-inflammatory and prostaglandin E2 suppressor. It has also been indicated that it is useful in reducing facial erythema.
Chemical Properties
clear yellow to light brown liquid
Chemical Properties
p-Ethoxybenzaldehyde has a sweet, floral, and anise odor and a similar taste
Occurrence
Reported found in black tea
Uses
4-Ethoxybenzaldehyde was used as an anti-inflammatory and prostaglandin E2 suppressor in skin lightening agents.
Definition
ChEBI: 4-ethoxybenzaldehyde is an aromatic ether.
Preparation
By ethylation of p-hydroxybenzaldehyde using aluminum chloride catalyst.
Synthesis
p-Ethoxybenzaldehyde is synthesized by Ethylation of para-Hydroxybenzaldehyde. This aldehyde, which is very important as an intermediate in the manufacture of many naturally occurring flavor chemicals can be prepared from Phenol plus Hydrocyanic acid plus Hydrochloric acid.
