By steam distillation of sawdust or finely chopped wood of Juniperus virginiana L.

Essential oil composition

The main constituents of cedarwood oil Virginia are cedrene, thujopsene and cedrol.

Pharmacology

Cedarwood oil (unspecified) had no sedative effect on tadpoles within 6 hr (LeNouene, 1966).
