Methyl 2-methoxy-4-nitrobenzoate (700 mg, 3.3 mmol) was used as a raw material for a catalytic hydrogenation reaction in methanol (10 mL) with the addition of 5% Pd-C (100 mg) and Na2SO4 (100 mg) as a catalyst for 1 h at 50 psi hydrogen pressure. Upon completion of the reaction, methyl 2-methoxy-4-aminobenzoate (600 mg, quantitative yield) was obtained and the product was a white solid.
