Human Platelet Factor-4 (PF4)/ CXCL4 (chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4) ELISA Kit has been used to measure PF-4 / CXCL4 serum level in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) patients.', 'Human Platelet Factor-4 / CXCL4 ELISA Kit has also been used in the measurement of platelet factor-4 in serum samples of prostate cancer and pseudoxanthoma elasticum patients.
General Description
Platelet factor-4 (PF-4) is a CXC chemokine that is expressed in megakaryocytes and stored in the alpha-granules of platelets. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 4. Recombinant human PF-4 is a 7.8kDa protein containing 70 amino acid residues, including the four highly conserved residues present in CXC chemokines.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Platelet factor-4 (PF-4) is chemotactic towards neutrophils and monocytes and has been shown to inhibit angiogenesis. This protein associates with heparin and neutralizes it. It also neutralizes various negatively charged proteoglycans.
Description
CXCL4 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 70 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 7.8 kDa.

Background
Platelet factor-4 is a 70-amino acid protein that is released from the alpha-granules of activated platelets. Its major physiologic role appears to be neutralization of molecules on the endothelial surface of blood vessels, thereby inhibiting local antithrombin III activity and promoting coagulation. As a strong chemoattractant for neutrophils and fibroblasts, PF4 probably has a role in inflammation and wound repair. Oncostatin-A is a member of the CXC chemokine family. Furthermore it is used as an inhibitor in the angiogenesis during tumor therapy.
