Uses

This is an organic synthesis intermediate and pharmaceutical intermediate that can be used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis processes.

Synthesis

To a 4 mL CH2Cl2 solution of 0.093 g (0.4 mmol) of 1-BOC-4-methoxymethylpiperidine was added 1 mL of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and the mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. To the reaction mixture 20 mL of saturated K2 CO3 solution was added and extracted with CH2Cl2. The combined organic layers were dried with MgSO4, filtered, and the filtrate concentrated to give the title compound, which can be used without further purification as 4-methoxymethylpiperidine.
