2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidinylmagnesium Chloride Lithium Chloride Complex is used in preparation of Pyridazinones as herbicides. Also, used in preparation of MCL-1 inhibitors useful for treatment of cancer.

Uses

2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidinylmagnesium chloride lithium chloride complex is a non-nucleophilic Knochel-Hauser base mainly used for the magnesiation of functionalized arenes and heteroarenes to prepare the corresponding Grignard reagents. It can also be used as a base in the synthesis of Π-conjugated polymers via catalyst-transfer polycondensation.

Synthesis

A 1000-ml triple-necked flask was taken, and the reaction flask was replaced three times with argon, and a little argon was turned on after the replacement so that the triple-necked flask was in an argon atmosphere, and then anhydrous lithium chloride (42.4 g, (1 mol), 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (141.3 g, 1 mol), and 1,10-phenanthroline (0.54 g, 3 mmol) were then added to the triplex, and 150 mL of tetrahydrofuran was added, and the temperature was controlled to 0-5 ??C, and the mixture was stirred for 10 min, then a dropwise concentration of was added.
