Uses

Catalyst for:

  • Ullmann reactions (homocoupling reactions)
  • Cross coupling reaction of tributyltin hydride with aryl iodides
  • Double silylation, double carbonylation and cyclocarbonylation reactions

Application

Dichlorobis(methyldiphenylphosphine)palladium(II) is a catalyst for the dicarbonylation of aryl halides with amines.

Preparation

Dichlorobis(methyldiphenylphosphine)palladium(II) is prepared by treating commercially available K2PdCl2 (in DMF) with methyldiphenylphosphine (in CH2Cl2), or  from K2PdCl2 (in H2O) and methyldiphenylphosphine (in CH2Cl2) using Bu4NCl (in CH2Cl2) as a phase-transfer catalyst.
