Yangambin Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Yangambin is one of the active ingredients of Radix Stellerae Chamaejasmes, which is bitter in nature and taste, and is highly toxic. Definition
ChEBI: Yangambin is a lignan.
Biological Activity
Yangambin is a furofuran lignan that has been isolated from plants such as the Annonaceae family, including: R. pickeli, R. exalbida and R. mucosa and Magnolia biondii. Yangambin is a selective PAF receptor antagonist that inhibits Ca2+ influx by modulating Ca2+ channels, resulting in a decrease in [Ca2+] in vascular smooth muscle cells and subsequent peripheral vasodilation. Yangambin exhibits anti-allergic activity against β-hexosaminidase with IC50 of 33.8 μM and anti-inflammatory activity with IC50 of 37.4 μM.
