Uses

Methyl chlorodifluoroacetate was used in preparation of 2,2-difluoro-3-hydroxyesters and gem-difluorocyclopropane.

General Description

Methyl chlorodifluoroacetate is a trifluoromethylating agent.

Synthesis

Methyl 2-chloro-2,2-difluoroacetate (CH3O(CO)CF2Cl) was synthesized using 1-chloro-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-2-methoxyethane (CH3OCF2CF2Cl) as a starting material by performing the reaction according to the reaction conditions of Example 3. Upon completion of the reaction, the target product methyl 2-chloro-2,2-difluoroacetate was obtained in 67% (1.34 mmol) yield.
