Chemical Properties

Cordyceps Red is a mixture of 5 components, which is a purple to bright red powder, easily soluble in alkali and slightly soluble in water, ethanol and propylene glycol. Easily soluble in alkali, slightly soluble in water, ethanol and propylene glycol, and the higher the purity, the smaller the solubility in water. 20 ℃ when the solubility is: 0.0335% (water), 0.916% (95% ethanol). It is stable to light and heat under acidic condition, but the hue changes with different pH value; it shows orange-yellow when the pH value is less than 4.5, orange-red when the pH value is 4.5-5.5, purplish-red when the pH value is more than 5.5, and it fades when the pH value is more than 12. It will produce precipitation when it meets copper, iron and other metal ions. Maximum absorption wavelength 488nm, oral LD501.8g/kg in rats.

Uses

Laccaic acid (cas# 60687-93-6) is an organic dye with antimicrobial properties towards various pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Laccaic acid is also used as a component of solar cells due to its photoelectric properties.
