Tyrphostin 1 is a small molecule inhibitor of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor kinase function. This molecule associates with the substrate subsite of the protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) domain. Tyrphostin 1 is also known to block EGF-dependent receptor autophosphorylation,.
