GLOBULINS, CAT GAMMA Usage And Synthesis

Uses

γ-Globulins from mouse were used to test the development and validation of ELISA for Herceptin detection in human serum.

Uses

GLOBULINS, CAT GAMMA from mouse were used to test the development and validation of ELISA for Herceptin detection in human serum.

Uses

GLOBULINS, CAT GAMMA from sheep were used to study the influence of HDL-cholesterol-elevating drugs on the in vitro activity of the HDL receptor SR-BI. 1 It was used in a study to test the interstitial transport of rabbit and sheep antibodies in normal and neoplastic tissues. 2, It was also used in a study to test the enhanced progesterone and testosterone secretion, and depressed estradiol secretion in vitro from small white follicle cells of incubating turkey hens.

General Description

γ-Globulin molecules is made up of four polypeptide chains, of which two have molecular weights of about 50,000 and two of about 20,000. These chains are cross-linked by disulfide bonds.

Hazard

Low toxicity by ingestion. Human systemic effects.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulins are key regulators of the immune system and are produced in response to antigens. They protect our bodies against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Immunoglobulins are involved in the activation of the complement system, opsonization of microbes for phagocytosis, neutralization of toxins and viruses, and inhibition of the attachment of microbes to mucosal surfaces. Immunodeficiency can lead to recurrent infectious diseases.
